Care work is crucial to our society and to the economy, it includes looking after children, elder people, and those with physical and mental illness, as well as daily domestic work, (cooking, cleaning, washing,etc.). Without somebody taken care of these tasks, communities, workplace and the whole economy will grind to a halt. Addressing global Data on this issue and practical solutions. OXFAM estimates that UNPAID CARE WORK globally for women ages 15 and over is at least US$10.8 Trillion annually- 3x the size of the world\u2019s TECH Industry (Jan 2020 report).<\/span><\/p>\n

Diya Dutta<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Diya is Research Manager at Oxfam India. She has been leading the Inequality research work at Oxfam India for the past 3 years. Diya was Coordinating Editor of the India Inequality Report 2019, The State of Employment in India and a contributing author too. This year, Diya has co-authored Oxfam India Inequality Report, On Women\u2019s Backs. The report focuses on the intersection between women\u2019s unpaid care work and gender based violence. She has been working on the issue of unpaid care work for over a decade. Diya has been a Researcher for more than 15 years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Anam Parvez Butt<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Anam is a Quantitative Gender Justice Researcher in the research team at Oxfam GB where she is involved in data analysis and quantitative and qualitative research that challenges gender inequalities and strengthens policy and programming. Informed by feminist economics, she also advises on the different data, methods and tools for effectively mainstreaming gender in all of Oxfam’s research.<\/span><\/p>\n
